Airport Collecting
My goal has been to fly about 100 hours per year but, due to a number of factors, the number seems to be dwindling. Rather than just fly "around the patch", I've developed a hobby I call "Collecting airports". I actively seek out airports I've never visited so I can add them to my log. As soon as I return home, I put a pin into a wall covered with sectionals joined together to show the northeastern US. I also plot them on a map I created in Excel. As the airports close to home are conquered, it's becoming more difficult to get new ones. I finished the year 2008 with 158 airports and continue to add them albeit slowly at this point. I think it makes things a bit more interesting. Some of the trips were especially memorable. Read about them here.
